WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE DOES GOD CHOOSE?
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
When God chooses a man or a woman to accomplish something great on his behalf, who does He choose?
Does he choose the person who is taller than all others? Older than all others? Richer than all others? Smarter than all others?
No. He chooses the person who has HIS HEART. It is that simple.
How do we know that? We see it in David’s story, Moses’ story, Abraham’s story, Peter’s story, Joseph’s story, and most of all, we see it in Jesus’ story.
In 1 Samuel 16, David is young. Frankly, nothing stands out about David. His father does not bring him in from the fields to meet the prophet who has come to anoint the next king. His seven older brothers are more likely choices for the kingship than he. I imagine his father saying, “He’s a good boy, but he’s not king material.”
No one could see the king that was inside of David.
Except for Almighty God.
David had been working and living in obscurity in the fields. But, he had a heart after God’s own heart.
Long before the palace, God saw him and choose him.
This is how God always works.
Good cares more about our heart than our appearance I don’t need to be brilliant, beautiful, successful, famous, or well-liked. I just need to have His heart.
“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9
Right now, God is doing what He’s always done. He’s looking throughout the earth for someone fully committed to him. And when He finds that person, He will choose them, use them, and bless them in every way imaginable.
What kind of people does God choose, use, and bless in this life?
That answer is simple, God is looking for someone who is after His heart.
