What God Did in 31 Days: A Miracle Story from Anthem Church
Anthem Church. Celebration Sunday. March 30, 2025.
Over the past 31 days, I’ve had a front-row seat to a miracle.
At the church I pastor—Anthem Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma—we’ve been on a two-year journey called the Unfinished Initiative, seeking to raise $5 million to fund ministry, expand our facilities for the next generation, and reach more people with the gospel.
But as we entered the final month—the final 31 days—we still needed nearly half a million dollars.
The finish line felt far.
The vision was clear, and we had a lot of momentum as a church. But from a purely human perspective, we were going to need a miracle.
And once again, God reminded us what it means to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Whether you’re part of Anthem Church or not, I believe this miracle story carries timeless truths that can strengthen your own walk with Jesus—especially if you’re navigating a season of uncertainty, delay, or stretching faith.
The Final Stretch — A 31-Day Journey of Trust
These were the actual numbers I announced to our church along the way, as we tracked progress and invited our people to pray:
March 1: We did the math and realized that $4,506,400 had been given (an incredible response over 23 months), leaving a remaining need of $493,600 to reach our $5 million goal.
March 9: I stood before our church and announced a remaining need of $461,000.
March 16: I shared that the remaining need had now decreased to $419,000. We all realized we were making progress but that we were not on track to make it in time.
March 23: After an amazing week of genersotiy, I reported that only $289,000 was left. The church rejoiced at the good news! And I think a number of us started to believe.
March 26: I emailed the church on Wednesday to celebrate that the need had dropped again - it was not $193,864. We had 5 days remaining.
March 30 (Sunday morning): I stood before our church and announced that only $109,572 remained. Today was the day.
Each time I stood before our church—on those Sunday mornings—I wasn’t just sharing numbers. I was inviting our people to pray, to believe, and to trust that God could do what we could not.
We had no assurances that He would do it, but our faith was rising.
That final Sunday morning, I prayed boldly before I got out of my car to walk inside: “Lord, would You do what only You can do? Would You provide every single dollar—not just so we reach a goal, but so our faith would grow and so that we would have a story to tell of how you did a miracle at Anthem?”
Celebration Sunday — The Miracle Unfolds
Throughout that Sunday, people gave with remarkable generosity. And just after our second service of the morning, I stood at the Jesus Is Hope wall in our building and shared the latest update with those who had waited to hear the results:
Only $33,836.55 remaining!
That alone was enough to celebrate. But in the hours that followed, the miracle continued. More gifts came in. More prayers were answered. God was moving.
By Monday afternoon—March 31—I was able to say the words I had been praying all month:
“We made it. Our $5 million Unfinished goal is FULLY FUNDED!”
In those final 31 days, more than 300 families contributed nearly $500,000. What felt impossible at the beginning of the month became a reality by the end—because of God’s faithfulness and His people’s obedience.
It wasn’t just generosity. It was a miracle of God’s provision right in our midst.
When You’re Walking by Faith
Even if you weren’t part of this specific story, I believe there are powerful takeaways for anyone who is learning to walk by faith:
1. Faith doesn’t wait for the odds to look good.
Faith moves before the outcome is guaranteed. If we had waited for the math to make sense, we never would have started.
Maybe you’re waiting for things to “line up” before you take that next step. But faith walks even when the finish line still feels far.
2. God grows our faith in the stretch.
The final mile is often where the miracle happens—but also where faith is refined.
Each week of March stretched me deeper into dependence. And in that space between what we could see and what we believed, God showed up powerfully.
3. Transparency builds trust.
We didn’t hide the challenge. We faced it together. I updated the church regularly, and our people leaned in—not away.
Trust grows when leaders lead with honesty and vulnerability.
The same is true for marriages and families.
4. God’s provision follows obedience.
There was no pressure, no manipulation. I simply asked people to pray, listen, and obey.
And that obedience—from hundreds of families—opened the door to God’s provision.
5. God finishes what He starts.
This entire journey was anchored in the promise of Philippians 1:6 (NIV):
“he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
God started this vision. God stirred hearts. And God brought it to completion—not by might, not by power, and not by strategy — but by His Spirit.
What This Means Moving Forward
This week, construction begins on our new Anthem Kids Wing—a space designed to disciple and care for the next generation of children and families.
But what excites me even more is the faith built in our people and leaders.
Because the real miracle wasn’t just financial—it was spiritual. A deeper trust. A greater unity. A fresh boldness to believe God for more.
Maybe you’re facing your own finish line that feels far—a prayer unanswered, a dream delayed, a step of faith that feels risky.
Let this 31-day miracle story remind you:
God sees. God hears. And God provides—especially in the final mile.
So don’t stop walking.
Don’t stop praying.
Don’t stop trusting.
You never know how close your breakthrough really is.
TAKE ACTION
If this story stirred something in you, don’t let it stop at inspiration—let it lead to action. Here are a few steps you can take today:
Identify a stretch area. Where is God calling you to trust Him more? Write it down. Pray over it.
Invite God into it. Ask Him boldly for His provision—not just financially, but for peace, courage, and wisdom.
Take a step. Faith isn’t passive. What small act of obedience can you take this week to show God you’re trusting Him?
Share your story. Someone else needs your testimony. If this encouraged you, share it or send it to a friend who’s walking through a faith-stretching season.
God is still writing Unfinished stories.
And yours may be next.
